William J. Pearsall, 94, died unexpectedly at his home in Richmond, where he had lived for more than 50 years.
Bill was born in Oceanside, NY, the son of the late William A. and Josephine J. (Groenewold) Pearsall. He grew up in the family home at 108 Berkley St. in Valley Stream, NY.
He joined the army in 1951, where he graduated from Field Wireman School, before serving with the 25th Infantry Division in Korea. His electrical training along with his natural tendency to "tinker" led to a career as a mechanic and machinist. He owned a Sunoco service station before starting a machine shop, P&P Precision (later Corsair Industries), with his brother-in-law, Conrad Platz. He ran this business on Long Island and later in Richmond, well into his 80s.
He is predeceased, in 1979, by his wife, Andrea (Platz) Pearsall, who he married on September 29, 1956. Early in their marriage they lived at Pine Hill in Spofford, NH, the home where he had spent summers with his grandparents, as a child. They later moved back to...
