Walter “Bobby” Latiolais, 81, of Spofford NH, a man whose hands built far more than homes and buildings, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Cheshire Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

Bobby was born on December 27, 1944, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, to the late Laton Latiolais and Amy (Landry) Latiolais. He was raised with strong roots, a deep sense of family, and a love for hard work that would follow him throughout his life.

He attended Little Flower Catholic School for the first eight years of his education before graduating from Cecilia High School in Cecelia, Louisiana in 1962. Even as a young man, Bobby’s spirit and determination were impossible to miss. He graduated with distinction as Male Athlete of the Year and was named MVP in both baseball and football. His love of the game would never truly leave him. After graduation, he went to work alongside his father, Laton, at Cecilia Lumber Yard, all while completing his apprenticeship at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and remained a devoted fan of Louisiana sports, especially LSU baseball.

It was there that he learned the trade and perfected the carpentry skills that would become the foundation of his life’s work. What began with lumber, tools, and the lessons passed down by his father would grow into a remarkable 55-year career as a project superintendent that began at the age of 27.

Bobby was a builder in every sense of the word. Throughout his career, he was responsible for helping bring countless beautiful homes and buildings to life across Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. His work stands as a testament to his skill, his vision, and his belief that anything worth building was worth building well.

Over the years, Bobby’s craftsmanship and dedication helped shape the communities around him. His work extended to commercial buildings, apartment complexes, stores and schools, creating spaces that would serve thousands of people. Locally, his legacy can be seen throughout the Keene community. He was proud to have been involved in the renovation of the beloved Colonial Theatre, the construction of the homeless shelter on Water Street, and most recently, the Keene State College and Keene Ice.

Bobby and ended his career as a proud employee of D. E. W. Construction.

But of all the beautiful things Bobby helped create, nothing meant more to him than his family.

He met the love of his life and soulmate, Cindy, and the two were married on June 20th, 1981. For 45 years, they shared a life built on friendship, love, laughter, and devotion. To Bobby, Cindy was not only his beloved wife, but his best friend and the person with whom he built his most meaningful life.

Bobby’s happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He found his greatest joy in simply being with them, watching them grow and celebrating their lives. He especially loved watching his grandsons play sports, proudly cheering from the sidelines and taking in every moment.

Bobby is survived by his adoring and beloved wife and best friend of 45 years, Cindy; his son, Nathan Bobby Latiolais and his wife, Sarah, of Chester, New Hampshire; his daughter, Shanna Lou Latiolais of Swanzey, New Hampshire; and his children, Kristine O’Brien and her husband, Kevin, of Lafayette, Louisiana; Kathy DeGlandon and her husband, Tracey, of Florida; and Amy Broussard and her husband, Damian, of Lake Arthur, Louisiana.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Colton Beaux Latiolais and Cody Brandt Latiolais of Chester, New Hampshire, Braxton Alexander Latiolais of Spofford, New Hampshire, Charlie Matirne and Katie Matirne, both of Lafayette, Louisiana; and Laton Broussard and Jenna Broussard, both of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, along with the many family members and friends whose lives were forever made better by knowing him.

There are homes and buildings across five states that stand because Bobby had a hand in creating them. Some may be large, others small. Some may be seen every day by people who will never know his name. But they remain, solid, beautiful, and lasting-much like the man who helped build them.

And yet, those who loved Bobby know that his greatest work was never made of wood, brick, or stone, his greatest work was the life he built with the people he loved.

He built memories. He built traditions. He built a family held together by love. He built a life defined not only by what he accomplished, but by the strength of his character and the place he held in the hearts of those around him.

His work is not done. It simply lives on in all that he built.
