Simone Louella (Evans) Smith, 78, of Winchester and formerly of Turners Falls, MA. passed away peacefully and quietly on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a long illness.
Simone was a kind and loyal friend to all. She was an exceptional high school athlete, often outperforming her male classmates. She enjoyed country music and karaoke. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed the company of many her friends. Simone was extremely generous, often giving the last of her finances to those in need.
Simone leaves her beloved son, Thomas Smith of Colrain, MA and her stepsons, Barry of Florida, Stanley, and Donald both of Orange, MA., her sisters, Helen Travis of Sacramento, CA., Margaret Hill of Northfield, MA., Martha Delancy (Clarence) of Florida, Deborah Fortin (Glenn) of Turners Falls, MA., and her brothers, Harold (Marion) of Phoenix, AZ., Gary of Albuquerque, NM., and Thomas (Yvonne) of Whitman, MA. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Simone was predeceased by her sister Joann, brothers, Robert and Richard, and her parents Helen (McDonald) and Robert I. Evans.
She leaves many dear friends, especially Susan Haskins, who helped care for her for many years. The family would like to give a special thank you to the care team at Applewood Rehabilitation in Winchester.
Calling hours will be from 9:00am to 11:30am on August 2, 2025, at the Cheshire Family Funeral Home. 46 S. Winchester St. Swanzey, NH. 03446. A simple service will follow at 11:30am with a reception following immediately after services at the Winchester VFW, 35 Main St. Winchester, NH. 03470. To view the service, we will be live streaming via Facebook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. All services are under the care of Cheshire Family Funeral Home, Chapel, and Crematories.
