Rose “Rosie” K. (Kapiloff) Weinrieb, 97, a longtime resident of Swanzey passed away peacefully and quietly while resting on Wednesday, December 18, 2025, after a brief period of declining health at Covenant Living in Keene.
She was born a daughter to the late Etta (Petlock) and Max Kapiloff on May 21, 1928, in New York. Rose was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School, class of 1946.
On May 28, 1950, Rosie exchanged vows with the love of her life, Jerome J. “Jerry” Weinrieb. They had simple ceremony in Springfield, MA. They were happily married for 67 years until Jerome passed away on December 9, 2017.
Rosie was very well known in the community and touched the lives of many of those around her. She was well known for her time working at the Credit Union at KSC and then later in “retirement” at Monadnock Regional High School where many years she was served as a lunch lady.
Rose lived an active and joyful life, finding happiness in both simple pleasures and meaningful connections. She enjoyed bicycle riding, walking, dancing, gardening, cross country skiing, and could often be found playing bingo or cards with friends. Time spent with her family was especially dear to her and brought her great fulfillment. Rosie was deeply involved in her community, serving as a Brownie troop leader, being a dedicated member of the Eastern Stars, and a lifelong member of Congregation Ahavas Achim.
Rose is survived by her children, Shelley Amster (Mike) of Concord, MA, Pamela Weinrieb of Keene, and Eric Weinrieb (Rachel) of Portsmouth. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam (Allison) Amster, Chelsea Weinrieb, and Gabe Weinrieb, two great grandchildren, Jeremy and Maya and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry, her parents, and her siblings, Betty Chorney, Lawrence Kapiloff, and Edward Kapiloff.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 10:00am at the Congregation Ahavas Achim, 84 Hastings Ave. Keene. Burial to follow at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Ahavas Achim in Keene.
The family would like to thank the staff at Covenant Living for their generous love and care for Rose.
