Robert I. Smith

Robert I. Smith, 83, a resident of Keene, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with the love of family near. He was born a son to the late Marion (Greene) and Sidney P, Smith on April 15, 1940 in Brattleboro, VT. Robert was educated locally and graduated from Hinsdale High School class of 1958. He continued his education at the University of New Hampshire earning his degree in Civil Engineering, class of 1962. He was a member of the ROTC and graduated with a commission as a 2nd lieutenant. After college, Robert enlisted into the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the 410 TH Civil Engineering Squadron. He was the recipient of the Airforce Commendation Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the Philippine Presidential Unit Situation.
