Lou Donna Johnson

Lou Donna Johnson (Guice) passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brady, Texas, on May 13, 1947, Lou Donna was the daughter of John Guice and Nola Sue Mitchel. She graduated from Brady High School in May of 1965, where she was an active member of the girls’ high school basketball team and played the clarinet in the school marching band. Growing up in Texas, Lou Donna cherished the time spent on the two family farms in Doole and Melvin, TX. In the late 1970s, Lou Donna moved to New Hampshire, where she began her long and dedicated career with New England Telephone Company. She worked there for over 40 years, earning a reputation for her unwavering dedication, never missing a day of work. She furthered her education by earning an associate's degree and became an engineer, a role she was very proud of. Outside of her professional life, Lou Donna was passionate about family and community. She enjoyed traveling, camping, kayaking, and spending time on the lake with her beloved grandchildren. Lou Donna was a devoted supporter of her grandchildren's school activities and also volunteered for the Special Olympics, reflecting her deep commitment to helping others. After retiring, Lou Donna continued her service to the community as a volunteer at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH. She was a longtime, faithful member of the Church of Christ in West Keene, where she taught Bible study and helped care for elderly church members. Lou Donna was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her sister Pam (Jan) Weaver of Midland TX, her daughter Sandra Mitaly of Clinton, ME, her son Brian Johnson (Jennifer) of Surry, NH, and her seven grandchildren: Christopher Mitaly (fiancé Nicole Cook), Joleen Mitaly, Jessica Couture (Max), Hayden Potter (Maiya), Jillian Johnson, Zachary Johnson, and Nathan Johnson. She also leaves behind two great-granddaughters, Leslie and Elleigh Couture; nephew Alan Weaver (Abigail) and their children; niece Shara Weaver; and many cousins. A loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lou Donna will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laughter, unconditional love, and selflessness. She gave so much of herself to her family and to those she loved. Her legacy of kindness, support, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Calling hours will be Saturday January 4th from 2-4 pm at Cheshire Family Funeral Home on Maple Ave, Keene, NH. Graveside service will follow in Brady, Texas at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Church of Christ on Blossom St in West Keene.
