Leslie Downing

Leslie H. Downing, 82, of Harrisville, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on February 7, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born on January 19, 1943 in Lowell, MA, daughter of the late James H. and Ruth B. (Bemis) Hastings. Leslie spent her early summers with her grandparents. She graduated from Mahar Regional High School in Orange MA in 1961, and from the University or New Hampshire with a BS in Education in 1965. Leslie married Russell Downing of Epsom NH in 1965 and after much travelling they settled in Harrisville in 1974. Leslie was a generous woman who cared deeply for her family, her church community, and the town of Harrisville. She had a love for all people and animals, frequently inviting them into the Downing home when they were in need. She was passionate about volunteering and was very involved in the church, serving multiple volunteer positions over the last 50 years.
