Leo Ernest Ling, 93, of Keene, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Born in Frelighburg, Canada on February 12, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Yvonne (Piette) Ling.
Leo grew up in Frelighburg, Canada and in 1970 he moved with his family to the United States, where he became a United States citizen in 1990. A hard worker from a young age, he spent his career as a heavy equipment mechanic and member of the union until his retirement in 1996 and then worked part time as a groundskeeper for St. Joseph's Church Cemetery and the Town of Hinsdale Parks Department. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 4 & 98, and a Fourth-Degree member of the St. Joseph's Knights of Columbus for 45 years.
An avid sports player, he loved to bowl, golf, play softball as a catcher, and enjoy a game of dominos, cards or bingo with friends. Family was everything to Leo, he loved spending time with them and escaping the cold winters with his wife in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Yollande Ling; son Steve Ling and wife Barbara; daughter Denise Gaspard; grandchildren Amanda Aldrich, Jessica Parcell, Valerie Ling and husband Justin Ledoux, Joshua Ling and fiancé Amy Belleville; great-grandchildren Chandler Basham, Caitlyn Basham, Courtney Basham, Jacob Parcell, Connor Ledoux, Cole Ledoux, Harper Kenny; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his twin sister Lena Fraga.
