Kenneth A. Harvey Jr., 81, of Winchester, NH, died on Friday, December 19, 2025, peacefully, at his home surrounded by his family. Ken was born in Hinsdale, NH, on June 13, 1944, the son of Kenneth A. Harvey Sr. and Grace (Freeman) Matthews.
Being born on "Friday the 13th" must have been a sign for him to excel in everything he pursued in life. Ken grew up in Brattleboro, Vt. He was educated in the Brattleboro Schools and served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany.
On December 21, 1968, he exchanged vows with Claudia (Hooper) Harvey in Warren, Michigan. Together they shared a passion for motorcycles which he treasured the memories made riding alongside each other on numerous long adventures around the United States to motorcycle rallies to include Laconia Motorcycle Rally (55 years), Daytona Motorcycle Rally (38 years) and the Sturgis, SD Motorcycle Rally (3 times), Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary in Milwaukee, WI, as well as other motorcycle events. He joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters in 1969, working for various union contractors over the years until he retired from Vermont Yankee in 2006.
Ken served his community on many town boards, including town moderator for 16 years. A proud member of the Winchester Kiwanis Club for 46 years, he devoted countless hours to building and improving projects throughout the town. He was always willing to help others, never seeking recognition, only wanting to make a difference.
Ken is predeceased by his parents and in-laws, Roland and Alice Cole, two brothers, Ellery A. Harvey, Illinois, and David M. Harvey, Vermont, and grandchildren, Branden M. Tkaczyk and Taylor A. Abbott.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia, of 57 years, and their children, Tracy L. Pelkey, her husband, Tim, and Kevin L. Harvey of Winchester. Grandchildren: Kevin A. Harvey and Allison N. Pelkey. Great Grandson, Jasper Dean Silver. His siblings: Wayne R. Harvey, William A., and his wife, Eydie, of Brattleboro, Vt.; sister-in-law Bonnie Harvey of Florida; and brother-in-law Jody A. Cole (Legay) of Florida. Several nieces and nephews.
