John H. Wilson

John H. Wilson, 93, a resident of Winchester passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Applewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, NH.

He was born to Katheryn H. (Conant) and Herbert W. Wilson on November 29, 1931, in Northfield, VT.

On December 23, 1949, John exchanged vows with the love of his life, Merrilyn A. Hubbell. They had a simple ceremony in Roxbury, VT with the love of family and friends celebrating them. They were happily married for 62 years until Merrilyn’s passing in 2012.

John enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 4, 1951, and served his country honorably for 21 years, retiring with the rank of Tech Sergeant on November 30th 1971. After John retired from the Air Force, John worked for the US Postal service for 20 years, retiring as the Postmaster of Vernon, VT.

Those who knew John had no doubt of his love and devotion for the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a long-time member of Grace Christian Fellowship in Winchester, NH.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his children, Robert J. Wilson and wife, Deborah of Hinsdale, Lauri L. Wallace, and husband, James of Swanzey, and James P. Wilson of Keene, a daughter in-law, Rebecca Wilson of Hinsdale, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Merrilyn, his son Gregory K. Wilson, his 9 siblings, and his granddaughter Kristin L. Wilson who passed on December 6, 1996.

A graveside memorial will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 1:00pm in the family lot at the Tyler Cemetery, 1277 Pond Rd. Vernon, VT 05354. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kristin L. Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Trustee of the Trust Funds, P.O. Box 13 Hinsdale, NH. 03451-0013. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Applewood Nursing home for the wonderful care they provided for John. They would especially like to thank Tarah and Robin.
