IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John
Miller
March 23, 1929 – March 21, 2026
Visitation
John Miller, a devoted husband, father, and community leader whose life reflected quiet integrity and steadfast service, died peacefully after a long and full life, just two days shy of his 97th birthday.
Born on March 23, 1929, in Jackson Township, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, to John and Esther (Wagner) Miller, Mr. Miller grew up in New Berlin. Summers spent at Camp Tecumseh on Lake Winnipesaukee fostered his lifelong love of New Hampshire's lakes and mountains.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in industrial engineering and served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he joined Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y., where he met Sally Dunn, who became his beloved wife of 69 years. The couple settled in New Hampshire in 1961, first in Manchester, where Mr. Miller worked as a manufacturing engineer for the J.F. McElwain Shoe Company, and later in Keene, where he joined Markem Corporation as manager. He retired after 32 years with the company.
Mr. Miller gave generously of his time to civic and faith organizations. He served on the Boy Scouts troop committee, appeared in several Lions Club shows, and held leadership roles with the Salvation Army, including treasurer and board member. At the United Church of Christ, he chaired the finance committee and served as treasurer.
An enthusiastic traveler, Mr. Miller and his wife explored the world together, visiting Botswana, China, India, Turkey, and Argentina.
He was predeceased by his seven siblings and by his beloved daughter, Ainsley (Miller) Aldrich. He is survived by his wife, Sally; his children, Chris Miller and Stacy Miller; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His life was marked by a commitment to service, a love of the outdoors and devotion to his family-a legacy that will be deeply cherished by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held from 3:00PM to 5:00PM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Cheshire Family Funeral Chaple, 44 Maple Ave, Keene, NH. A burial will be held privately for the family.
