John grew up in Ashby. After graduation from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy before receiving an honorable discharge. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 84, Swanzey, NH and was dedicated to supporting his fellow veterans. John took great pride in volunteering at every event, participating in veterans' parades, and demonstrating his continued appreciation for those who served our country by placing American flags in the cemetery on Memorial Day.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by the love of his life and companion of over 30 years Bernadette Quinn.
He is survived by his chosen family; Anne Shattuck and husband Howard of Worcester, MA., Edward Quinn and wife Maureen of Worcester, MA., James Quinn and wife Lynda of Forrest, VA., and best friend Jim Devine and his wife Robin of Sullivan, NH.
