Joan Ruth
Burnham
Apr 19, 1947 — Oct 26, 2026
Winchester
Joan Ruth Burnham, 79, of Winchester, New Hampshire, passed away on October 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on April 19, 1947, in Onley, Maryland, Joan was the daughter of Doris May Johnson and Blaine Reaves. She grew up in Ashuelot, New Hampshire, and later settled in Winchester, where she raised her two sons, Francis Tacy and Brian Farnum.
Family held a special place in Joan’s heart. Time spent with those she loved brought her happiness, and gathering around the table for a card or dice game was one of her favorite ways to enjoy their company. For Joan, those games were an opportunity to share conversation, laughter, and the simple pleasure of being together. Those everyday moments will remain treasured memories for her family.
Joan’s love extended to animals, and she was especially devoted to her beloved black cat, Shiloh. His companionship brought her comfort and joy, and he held a cherished place in her life.
Joan worked at Peoples Linen in Keene for more than 20 years. Away from work, she found happiness in the familiar comforts of home, her animals, and the people closest to her.
Joan was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Sharon Heath. She is survived by her sons, Francis Tacy of Winchester and Brian Farnum and his wife, Marcy, of Hinsdale, New Hampshire; her siblings, Phillip Tacy of Jacksonville, South Carolina, Robbin Signs of Groton, Connecticut, Sylvia Goode of Swanzey, New Hampshire, Doreen Tacy of Florida, Raymond Tacy of Maine and; and her sisters, Susan Day and Linda Snyder both of Maryland.
She also leaves her grandchildren, Frederic Vicaire of Gilsum, New Hampshire, Michael Vicaire of Harlem, Georgia, and Samantha Tacy of Winchester; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and all who shared in her life.
Services will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to the Monadnock Humane Society.
