Gary Wuerth, 66, of Nelson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 while surrounded by his family. Born on March 16, 1959 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Eileen A. (Smollar) and the late Helmuth E. Wuerth.
Gary grew up in Massachusetts and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for 3 years before he was honorably discharged. After the service, he began his career as a machinist and then went onto woodworking and building houses. A natural musician, Gary loved music and was a singer in many bands throughout his life. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and often used cooking as a way of caring for people. Gary was a football fan and was known to live and breathe anything Buffalo Bills.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Laurie Wuerth of Nelson, NH; mother Eileen A. Wuerth of Northampton, MA; son Gary M. Wuerth and wife Renee of Tolland, CT; daughter Heather A. Wuerth of Easthampton, MA; granddaughter Mikayla R. Sharrow of Easthampton, MA; stepdaughters Virginia M. Tims and husband Benjamin of Peterborough, NH, Taylor L. Chamberlain of Swanzey, NH; brothers Mark E. Wuerth and wife Jill of Palm City, FL, Ronald A. Wuerth and wife Kathleen of Jupiter, FL; sisters Kathy A. Hausrath and husband Allen of Hatfield, MA, Karrin A. Burkhart of Holyoke, MA; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dog Moot. He is predeceased by his father Helmuth E. Wuerth.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 1PM to 3PM at Cheshire Family Funeral Home, 44 Maple Ave, Keene, NH 03431.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Gary may be offered to Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services.
