Gabriel “Gabe” Steven Schimp, 22, a lifelong resident of Troy, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Born on June 19, 2004, in Keene, Gabe was the beloved son of Jon and Laura Schimp of Troy. He attended local schools and graduated from Monadnock Regional High School with the Class of 2023.
Those who knew Gabe will remember the sweetness and gentleness he carried with him. He was soft-spoken, thoughtful, and the kind of person who was always willing to lend a hand, no matter what was needed. Helping others came naturally to Gabe, and his kindness made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Simply put, he was one of the sweetest and kindest human beings you could ever hope to meet. Most recently, Gabe worked at Gemini Industries in Surry, for a few months where he took pride in the work he did.
Gabe found happiness in life’s simple moments. He loved going to the gym, fishing, swimming, playing with the dogs, spending time with his friends, attending car shows, and working on his hot rod with his father. He also enjoyed playing video games and making memories with the people he cared about. Gabe will be remembered for his love of cars, his friendships, and the time he shared with his family and friends. His sweet spirit and generous heart will be remembered, and he will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Gabe is survived by his parents, Jon and Laura Schimp of Troy; his sister, Jayla A. Schimp of Troy; his uncles, Nicholas Schimp of Keene and Todd Schimp and his wife, Heather, of Manchester; his aunt, Alice Fontaine of Swanzey; his grandfather, Fred Schimp of Northampton, New Hampshire; and his grandmother, Janet Urban Crabtree of Keene. He is also survived by many cousins, extended family members, and close friends who will miss him dearly.
