Obituary

Charles H. Ford, 83, a resident of Swanzey, passed away peacefully and quietly on Monday, May 25, 2026, with the love of family by his side after a brief period of declining health.

He was born a son to the late Doris (Senecal) and Wesley Ford on January 23, 1943, in Lebanon, NH. He was educated locally in the New Hampshire School System.

On March 18, 1978, Charles exchanged vows with Sandra Ann Holmes. They had a simple ceremony in Epping New Hampshire with family and friends celebrating them.

Charles enjoyed his time working for BDM Sweeper service for 10 years until he retired in 2009. Prior, Charles worked for Wiggin's concrete for 10 years and Homestead Woolen Mills for many years prior to that. Charles was a longtime volunteer Fire Fighter for the Swanzey Fire Department.

Charles found joy in life's simple pleasures and the people who he loved most. He enjoyed the sport of horseshoes, playing cards, spending time fishing, and taking pride in keeping his lawn well maintained. He especially treasured family barbeques and gatherings that brought everyone together. Charles was a dedicated member and former Governor of the Keene Moose Lodge and was a proud member of the Coon Club in Westport, where he formed many lasting friendships throughout the years.

Mr. Ford is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Ford of Swanzey, their children, William "Bill" Prescott and his soon to be wife, Nicole Knobloch, of Swanzey, and Cathy Prescott and her significant other, Bob Norris of Richmond. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Ford and his wife Vicki of Swanzey, David Youtsey of Belmont, William "Bill" Youtsey of HI, and Deborah Werley of Florida, his grandchildren, Benjamin Prescott, William Prescott, Michael Cushman Jr., and Korena Lingle, and his 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Siblings, Dana Youtsey, Rose Wilson, Dick Ford, and his sister-in-law Marion Youtsey.

Calling hours will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel, 44 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. A burial will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00am in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery 875 Old Homestead Hwy, Swanzey, NH. 03446.
