Benjamin Jalava's Obituary

Benjamin Philip Jalava, 56, of Troy, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 while at home. Born in Keene, NH on December 9, 1969, he was the son of Philip and Dorothy "Janice" (Mattson) Jalava.

Ben grew up in Troy and was known for his strong work ethic. He built a successful career as a truck driver, contractor, and most recently a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and riding four-wheelers. Known for his great sense of humor, he enjoyed making others laugh and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A proud and loving Dad and Papa, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughters Lacey Jalava and her partner Lawrence Alley, Ariana Kelley; life partner Deb Duffy; grandchildren Audrey, Waylon, Emery; siblings Leisa Perrotta and Dean Dinsmore, Daniel Jalava, Kristi Jalava and Jeffrey Middleton, Eunice Pappas, Esther Jalava and Bryan, David Jalava, Lois Jalava, Joshua and Cristina Jalava, Elizabeth Traynor and John; former sister in law Colleen and Doug Tucker; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his daughter Madalyn Jalava.

A visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel, 44 Maple Ave, Keene NH.
