Peter Thayer

Peter “Pete” J. Thayer, 67, of Harrisville, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, while in the comfort of his home. Born on October 16, 1957, in Keene, NH, he was the son of the late Warren and Mary (O’Gara) Thayer. Pete grew up in Harrisville and graduated from Keene High School in 1975 and then went on to graduate from NH Vocational Tech in 1977. With a love for aviation, he spent over 15 years in the airline industry working for Precision Airlines RP, a regional carrier where he fueled planes, hand wrote airline tickets, loaded passengers and bags onto commuter planes to name a few of his duties. He will be truly missed by his RP family. Pete then went on to work for Hamshaw Lumber where he worked for 26 years until the day of his passing. Pete was a world traveler who loved traveling with his wife Pam and son Quinn, exploring Egypt with his father and learning about his ancestry while in Ireland. He loved cooking for his family and friends any time he could and took immense pride in smoking meat on his Big Green Egg. He enjoyed spending time outdoors whether on his tractor, walking through the woods or listening to his 1000+ playlist of music. He loved the Rolling Stones, Queen, John Prine, Johnny Cash, Grateful Dead, to name a few. If you drove by the house, most likely you would hear music playing outside. He is survived by his loving wife Pam Thayer of Harrisville; son Quinn Thayer of Harrisville; sister Maureen Fitch of Windham, VT; brothers John Thayer and wife Caroline of Marlow, James Thayer and wife Belinda of Hartwell, GA, and Chris Thayer and wife Eileen of Stoddard; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, his Hamshaw and RP family. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his sister Judith Thayer. A Memorial Service will be held from 12PM to 1:30PM on Sunday, May 18 at Cheshire Family Funeral Home, 44 Maple Ave, Keene, NH 03431. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete’s memory may be offered to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
