Lewis A Hodgman

LEWIS A HODGMAN, 80, a longtime resident of Winchester, NH and Lynchburg, VA for the past 7 years, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on August 22, 2024 . He was born April 15, 1944 to the late Dorothy (Putnam) and late Burche Hodgman in Keene, NH. He was educated locally at Thayer High School and graduated with the class of 1963. On December 16, 1966 Lewis exchanged vows with the love of his life, Gayle A (Baronoski). They had a simple service with family and friends. They were married 58 years. Lewis worked at A.C Lawrence Leather, the grocery business, and retired after 21 years at Smith Medical in Keene, NH. After retirement he worked for the Winchester School performing janitorial services. He took great pride in his work. Lewis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Northfield, Mass. He was an avid Red Sox fan who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing (often joking that WMUR would be flying in to interview the "professionals"), softball, reading western books by Louis L'Amour and motorcycles. A memorable moment in his life was a ride out west to Sturgis, SD on his Harley Davidson dresser. He enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his yard. In his younger years he loved spending the summers at his camp on Laurel Lake in Fitzwilliam, NH where he took pleasure in entertaining with big barbeques which always included fresh corn on the cob, steamers and cold beer with family and friends. Lewis had a knack for striking up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Back in Virginia he was known as the "Mayor" of Willow Brook Apartments. Lewis is survived by his wife, Gayle A Hodgman Lynchburg, VA, his children, Tina Hodgman and her partner Danny Black of Winchester, NH, Alan (Teasha) Hodgman of Winchester, NH and Glenn (Missy) Hodgman of Winchester, NH. His sibling, Charles (Joyce) Hodgman of Winchester, NH and his sister-in- law, Beth Hodgman of Sebring, Florida. He is survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Dorothy (Putnam) and Burche Hodgman and his siblings, Everett Hodgman, Birche Hodgman, Guy Hodgman and Joan Hodgman. At the request of Lewis there will be no services. Burial will be at a later date.
